Izabelle Murphy is a visual artist whose practice concerns processes of analogue construction and editing, in recognition of the physical, real-world aspect of creation. This often involves sourcing natural elements that interact with projections and cameras. This new concept fascinates and drives the creative dialogue between the work and the viewer, where concepts of experience and phenomenology are embodied.

During her studies at University, concepts of time, memory, and perception developed into key aspects of her work. The idea that perhaps nature and technology aren’t as juxtaposed as we may collectively think leans toward the idea that they are in fact opposite ends of the same spectrum.  A desire to capture energy through art, just as nature does in its very existence is prevalent.

A belief that informs her practice is that art’s extension into the viewer is an integral aspect of the piece itself. The viewer’s perceptions feed back into and inform the piece. This cycle brings consciousness to art. The consideration of the viewer in her work manifests through the formation of new realms to enter through observation and immersion. Sound, scale, and colour are constantly played and experimented with - reaching for a space where the possibility of meditative contemplation and transformation is found.
